TWO NEW OFFICERS JOIN LOS ANGELES AIRPORT POLICE


(Los Angeles, California – February 19, 2016)  Two new officers today joined the ranks of Los Angeles Airport Police Division (APD).  Recruit Officer and Squad Leader Jesus Castillo and Recruit Officer Sylvia Arriola were sworn in after graduating from Los Angeles Police Academy Class 9-15.  Officer Castillo was recognized with the Human Relations Award during the graduation ceremony held at the Crenshaw Christian Center in the City of Los Angeles.
Before swearing-in the new officers, Airport Police Chief Patrick Gannon told his new officers and their families, “It is a tremendous responsibility to keep our airports safe and secure.  It is our mission and that is what you will be expected to do.” 
Class 9-15 with 28 officers trained for six months.  The new Airport Police officers will now complete a six-month Field Training Program specific to airport law enforcement, under the guidance of a field training officer before being assigned to Patrol Services Section.
The Los Angeles Airport Police is the nation's premier aviation law-enforcement agency with more than 1,100 specially trained police officers, security officers, and civilian staff protecting Los Angeles International, LA/Ontario International, and Van Nuys airports.
