LOS ANGELES AIRPORT POLICE SERGEANT RECOGNIZED FOR EXCELLENCE IN INTERNATIONAL AVIATION SECURITY

(Los Angeles, California -- May 28, 2011) Los Angeles Airport Police Sergeant Anthony Boisselle was recognized as "Outstanding Individual in Aviation Security – Front Line Staff" at the 2011 AVSEC Conference in Hong Kong this week. The award recognizes extraordinary individuals for significant contribution to the field of aviation security in ways that facilitate innovative protective strategies.

Sgt. Boisselle is a 12-year veteran of Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) Police Division, assigned to the Vulnerability Assessment and Analysis Unit of the Homeland Security Section at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). He supervises the division’s Counter-Terrorism Group, which conducts vulnerability assessments and develops mitigation strategies for all LAX structures considered essential to airport operations. His staff also coordinates and participates in ongoing interdisciplinary research and development efforts in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Science & Technology Directorate.

"I am very proud that Sgt. Boisselle was selected from among the many nominees for this award by such a prestigious international group," said Airport Police Chief George R. Centeno. "He has shown great dedication to the division over the years and is worthy of such a significant award."

As a result of his efforts, LAX is noted worldwide for the development of the ARMOR (Assistant for Randomized Monitoring Over Routes) Program. LAX also was named TSA Airport of the Year in 2009.

Sgt. Boisselle is considered a subject-matter expert in the area of airport regulations and Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Security Directives. He is a certified Airport Security Coordinator, Airport Certified Employee in Security through AAAE (American Association of Airport Executives), and a recipient of the LAWA Airport Police Officer of the Year Award. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Emergency Management from Union Institute University.

Representing the United States on the 12-member-nation International Awards of Excellence in Aviation Security panel, Erroll Southers, TAL Global Managing Director of Counter-Terrorism and Infrastructure Protection, said, “I echo the sentiments of my international Colleagues when I say Sgt. Boisselle is an extraordinarily accomplished professional and deserving of this honor. He is a credit to his agency, the aviation security community and our nation.”

AVSEC is one of the largest aviation security conferences in the world and the award is the only one of its kind. AVSEC brings together top academics, aviation security professionals, policy analysts, policy makers, vendors and service providers from around the world.
