TWO NEW OFFICERS JOIN LOS ANGELES AIRPORT POLICE

     (Los Angeles, California – November 25, 2015)  Two recruits have joined Los Angeles Airport Police following graduation today from the Los Angeles Police Academy.  Recruit Officers Ernesto Mora and Krystal Mitchell, a squad leader and recipient of three awards, were sworn in after graduating from the Los Angeles Police Academy Class 6-15 in a ceremony held at the Los Angeles Police Department Administration Building in Downtown Los Angeles.
     Recruit Officer Mitchell earned awards for best report writing and highest in academics, and was named top overall recruit.  Mitchell’s trifecta is an example of the individual dedication and quality of candidates that Airport Police seeks to protect the hundreds of thousands of guests who pass daily through Los Angeles World Airports’ (LAWA) three airports:  Los Angeles International (LAX), LA/Ontario International (ONT), and Van Nuys (VNY).
     Addressing the duo, LAWA Executive Director Deborah Flint said, “I am very proud of you and very appreciative of your accomplishments in the academy.”
     Before swearing-in the new officers, Airport Police Chief Patrick Gannon told the new officers, “The dedication and commitment you showed in the academy is the foundation for your future career in law enforcement.  You will learn something new every day.  Work hard, stay focused and welcome to the Airport Police Family.”    
     Class 6-15 with 33 officers trained for six months.  The new Airport Police officers will now undergo a six-month Field Training Program specific to airport law enforcement under the guidance of a field training officer before being assigned to the Patrol Services Section.
     The Los Angeles Airport Police is the nation's premier aviation law-enforcement agency with more than 1,100 specially trained police officers, security officers, and civilian staff protecting Los Angeles International, LA/Ontario International, and Van Nuys airports.
