FOUR NEW OFFICERS JOIN LOS ANGELES AIRPORT POLICE

     (Los Angeles, California – December 23, 2015)  Four new officers today joined the ranks of Los Angeles Airport Police Division (APD).
     Recruit Officer and squad leader John Becerra, recruit officers Royal Ellis, Steve Sanchez and recruit officer Monica Urbieta, who was honored with the award for top recruit in report writing, were sworn-in after graduating from Los Angeles Police Academy Class 7-15.  The graduation ceremony was held at the Los Angeles Police Department Administration Building in Downtown Los Angeles.
    Today's graduation, the final of 2015, included the latest of the thirty-three new members of the Airport Police to successfully graduate this calendar year.  “The hiring and training of thirty-three new officers this year along with the latest acquisition of eighteen new K-9 vehicles and the utilization of the latest technologies is a sign of our continued commitment to strengthening the safety and security of our airports.”  “I am proud of what we have accomplished this year and I am even more excited about our plans moving into the future.”   said Airport Police Chief Patrick Gannon.
    Class 7-15 with 42 officers, trained for six months. The new Airport Police Officers will now complete a six-month Field Training Program specific to airport law enforcement, under the guidance of a field training officer before being assigned to Patrol Services Section.
    The Los Angeles Airport Police is the nation's premier aviation law enforcement agency with more than 1,100 specially trained police officers, security officers, and civilian staff protecting Los Angeles International, LA/Ontario International, and Van Nuys airports.
