LAX GUESTS ADVISED OF OVERNIGHT WATER LINE REPLACEMENT PROJECT THAT WILL CLOSE LANES ON LOWER/ARRIVAL LEVEL AT TERMINALS 1-2
The pick-up lane and at least one additional lane will be closed overnight Monday-Friday for relocation
of a water line at Terminals 1-2 starting next week. Work will be completed by 7 a.m. each day.
(Los Angeles, CA) Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) is advising guests that water line relocation work will close multiple lanes at Terminals 1 and 2 on the Lower/Arrival Level beginning early Monday, February 12, between the hours of 12 midnight and 7:00 a.m.
The work will take place between Terminals 1 and 2, and continue west past Terminal 2. The right-most pick-up lane and at least one additional lane will be closed Monday-Friday during the overnight hours. These hours were chosen because fewer vehicles typically use the Lower Level during these times, and there are fewer arriving flights overnight. Metal plates will cover the work area the rest of the day (7:00 a.m. to midnight) to allow normal traffic flow.
Pedestrians will be detoured and some shuttle stops relocated during the overnight hours as the work gradually moves west to Terminal 2. The project is anticipated to take several weeks. When new concrete is poured to restore the road surface, lanes will be closed continuously for 72 hours to allow for curing.
Although the construction is expected to have the most impact on arriving passengers and motorists picking them up, guests are advised to allow additional time to reach LAX while the work takes place. Passengers should arrive two hours ahead of their scheduled boarding time for a domestic flight and three hours ahead of the scheduled boarding time for an international flight.
