Westbound Century Boulevard will be closed at Aviation Boulevard for three nights as Walsh-Shea works on the elevator to a new Metro station, one of two projects scheduled in the area May 7-9.
(Los Angeles, CA) Two projects related to the new Century/Aviation Metro Station could impact motorists near Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) starting Monday, May 7.
On Monday and Tuesday, Metro’s contractor Walsh-Shea will be performing work on the new median between the eastbound and westbound lanes of Century Boulevard between Aviation Boulevard and Bellanca Avenue from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day. The work will require the closure of the leftmost lane, either eastbound or westbound, but not in both directions at the same time.
In addition, westbound Century Boulevard will be closed at Aviation Boulevard for three nights, May 7-9, from 11 p.m. until 6 a.m. the next day for construction of the elevator for the station, which will serve the new Crenshaw/LAX Line when it opens next year. A detour will be posted and is included with this notice.
Passengers may wish to allow extra time to reach the airport during the work hours. LAX encourages guests to arrive two hours before the boarding time for domestic flights and three hours before the boarding time for international flights.
