LANE CLOSURES PLANNED AT TERMINALS 2-3 ON UPPER/DEPARTURES LEVEL

Nightly work to install a temporary sidewalk and protective canopy on the Upper/Departures Level between Terminals 2 and 3 will close both drop-off lanes in the vicinity of the construction area for approximately five weeks starting on Friday, March 20.

LAX IMPLEMENTS NIGHTTIME CLOSURE POLICY - TERMINALS, PARKING STRUCTURES AND AREAS WITHIN THE CTA CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC BETWEEN MIDNIGHT AND 5 A.M.

(Los Angeles, CA) Due to heavy overnight construction, limited early morning flight activity, terminal cleaning and sanitizing protocols and a priority to keep all guests and employees at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) safe and healthy, LAX’s Central Terminal Area (CTA) will be closed to the public nightly between midnight and 5 a.m. except for:

  • Ticketed airline passengers and persons meeting, accompanying or assisting them (Airline check-in counters and federal passenger security screening will be open depending upon flight schedules for each terminal); and
  • Airport and City Personnel whose employment requires their presence.

LAX CONSOLIDATED RENT-A-CAR FACILITY COMPLETES FIRST FOUNDATION CONCRETE POUR
(Los Angeles, CA) Today, Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) announced commencement of the first concrete pour for Los Angeles International Airport’s (LAX) Consolidated Rent-A-Car (ConRAC) facility. The initial pour represents a fraction of the 265,000 cubic yards of concrete that will be poured for the approximately 6.3-million-square-feet facility, which will become the largest rental car facility in the world when completed.

LAX PILOT PROGRAM ADDING TWO ADDITIONAL TAXI PICKUP AREAS TO AUGMENT LAX-IT SET TO BEGIN TUESDAY AT 8 AM

(Los Angeles, CA) Starting tomorrow, Tuesday, March 10, at 8 a.m., LAX will begin a 90-day pilot program that provides additional taxi cab pickup locations for guests. The two new pilot locations will augment taxi pickups at LAX-it, which will remain the primary pickup location for taxis and ride app vehicles.

This includes partnering with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health (LA County Health) to facilitate the implementation of the federally mandated screening of travelers with possible exposure, and keeping it away from public areas, as well as coordinating with public health agencies to ensure that best practices to keep its employees and guests safe are being employed at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

HIRELAX GRADUATES SEVENTH CLASS OF STUDENTS READY TO BUILD THE FUTURE OF LAX
(Los Angeles, CA) Surrounded by friends and family, 27 students of the HireLAX Apprenticeship Readiness Program's seventh cohort graduated today, marking the successful completion of a transformative eight-week course that will prepare them for apprenticeships in the union construction trades.

The event was held at Los Angeles Southwest College (LASC), and featured Justin Erbacci, Interim Chief Executive Officer, Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA), Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) Board of Trustees President Andra Hoffman, Los Angeles/Orange Counties Building and Construction Trades Council (LA/OC BCTC) Executive Secretary Ron Miller and Parsons Corporation President and COO Carey Smith. Erbacci congratulated the class on its accomplishment and expressed his hope that many of them would soon begin working on LAX's $14 billion modernization program.

The pilot uses the concept of a ghost kitchen, in which food will be prepared in existing kitchen space within the terminal. This innovative model supports sustainability and small business development at LAX without the need for new construction or infrastructure.
